The marine travel company sets itself a corporate social responsibility policy to ensure we give as much back to our local community as we can. One way we look at doing this is by getting involved with local sporting teams.

Chris Field
Chris regularly updates us on his progress and the drop down menu below contains news from Chris.
The Marine Travel Company is delighted to support Chris in his goal to succeed at both the European and World Championships in the coming years. Ultimately his long term goal is to represent GB at the 2012 London Olympics.
Chris has been racing catamarans since the age of 8, by the age of 12 he had already become the national champion in the 'Prindle 18-2' class with his father. Every weekend for the past 12 years Chris travels to various sailing events all over Europe, pitting himself against sailors from all nations.
Chris has raced many classes of boat, up to the highest level, not only winning the overall British Olympic Class title in 2004, but has also qualified for the European and World Championships for the last two years by becoming our national champion in 2005, 2006 and now 2007.
We believe with Chris's dedication and our support, along with his other sponsor's he has the opportunity to realise his goals!
The A-Class Catamaran
www.a-cat.org
The A-Class catamaran is the fastest, most demanding and spectacular singlehanded catamaran in the world, purely designed for racing. The boat is 18’ long, 7,6” wide and has a mast of over 30’. With the construction being entirely of carbon fibre, the power to weight ratio is such that the boat will achieve speeds in excess of 25knots. The Class rules allow sponsors to display their livery over the entire boat, unlike some classes, and due to the prestige of the class events are covered world wide.
Events in The A-Class are limited to 100 boats and are competed at the highest level, only equalled by Formula 18.
The Formula 18 Catamaran

This class is the premier 2 man racing catamaran in the world. With similar dimensions to the A-Class this boat also races at around 25 knots however the main difference is the dramatically increased sail area including a 21m2 spinnaker. Once again the rules allow the boats to be fully branded and with a maximum of 160 boats per event the class is the most competitive racing fleet in catamaran sailing, not just by numbers but also by quality.
